My Lovely Poppy,
You are almost 16 months old! You constantly melt my heart. What an easy going baby you are! You offer the sweetest, wrinkled nose smile and aside from the 4 upper and 4 lower teeth in the front, you are getting your 4 molars. This has made for some challenging nights, but you are still your usual sweet self during the day. You love having your teeth brushed with you cute little baby toothbrush.
You are starting to be so much more communicative. You can say “uh-oh” and “wow!” in your sweet high pitched voice. You also point and grunt quite a bit to let us know what you want or need. You have also started climbing on to chairs…and tables, what a busy girl you are! You adore your siblings and they adore you too.
We had a wonderful Christmas; you got a Little People Princess Castle, a bouncy ride on toy, a little people car parking ramp, a new baby doll and a baby doll stroller, amongst other things. It was SO cute to see you pulling the wrapping paper off of your presents when you opened them; you totally understood that something new was under that paper. I loved watching you study the box of the toy you had just unwrapped.
One funny thing about you is that you go to bed at 7pm, and wake up at 7am everyday….not 6:50, not 7:10…you wake up at 7am. Your little circadian clock is right on, and I don’t really even need an alarm clock thanks to youJ
You have started “running” a bit more, it’s so cute to see you in this hurried walk as you try to keep pace with your siblings as they play chasing games. You do such a good job keeping up with them. You sign “more” and “milk” when you want to nurse, and you LOVE to do what I call “drive-by” nursing, where you latch on for about a minute, walk away, and then come back for more….back and forth. I’m proud to still be nursing you, and even prouder that you are comforted through nursing and being in close contact with my skin. Sometimes you come up to me as though you want to nurse, and once I get my shirt up or off, you lay your cheek on my chest for comfort. I love that.
You are understanding so much now, you can get a diaper out of the closet, when I go to dress you, you “help” by putting your legs up for your pants, or leaning your head down for the shirt to go over it. I think you are so precious! Sometimes I just have to pick you up and hold you close to breathe you in, my love for you overwhelms me once in a while and I just need to hold you close, snuggle you and love on you. I can’t believe how fast you are growing up, it’s so bittersweet. Each time you grow out of a piece of clothing I’m reminded that I’ll never have a little one that size again and I feel such sadness. You have been such a precious joy of a child, I’m so thankful that you are my little one, you bring me so much happiness. Simply seeing you smile warms me to my core. I tell myself 100 times a day that I adore you, because you are so precious to me.
I so love you Poppy Wynn, I’m excited to see you grow up-but don’t grow up too fast my sweet girlJ
